Meet Scott

I was born and raised in Middletown, Ohio where the immediate family (parents, siblings, grandparents, great grandmother, and cousins) all lived within just a few blocks of each other. At that time, little Middletown was a steel and paper manufacturing town surrounded by a large rural/farming area.

My college education at University of Kentucky was funded by working part-time as a short order cook and selling women’s shoes at a clothing boutique during the school year and, in the summers, labor reserve at the steel mill. I graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. During that time, I enlisted into the Ohio Air National Guard based at Rickenbacker Air Force Base (now Rickenbacker Airport in Columbus).

After graduation from U.K., I entered the workforce working at a True Value Hardware Store owned by an uncle of mine. This was my training ground for customer service skills, small business finances and time management. After number of years working for family, I decided to begin a lifetime journey in various financial services industries. One job experience always led to growing into more challenging and rewarding others. Many of the positions required extensive training and education plus licensing. Here is a listing of the various positions I successfully worked in:

  • Life & Health Insurance Sales

  • Fee Based Financial & Estate Planning

  • Stock & Bond Broker

  • Commercial Trust Officer and Retirement Plan Specialist

  • Real Estate Agent

  • Small Business Consultant

  • Business Process Manager

  • Paralegal for a Law Office specializing in Veteran & Social Security Disability claims

All through my working career, I involved myself with community activities and volunteer endeavors. I was very involved in Scouting as a Cubmaster, Scoutmaster and adult leader trainer for the Dan Beard Council in Cincinnati. One of the most rewarding experiences was with the American Red Cross. While a volunteer for local disaster relief, I was deployed twice to New York City assisting in Hurricane Sandy relief in 2012/13.

Today, I live here in Knox County with my wife, 28 chickens, 2 pigmy goats and our dog, Abby.

We have truly enjoyed being part of rural community now since 2018.

Bottom line: With a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, 40 years in financial services, plus a paralegal degree, I know how laws and budgets affect real families and small businesses in House District 98.
